"Oman Water Report Q3 2011" is now available at Fast Market Research

PRLog (Press Release)– Jul 27, 2011– BMI View: Oman is facing a sharp rise in demand for desalinated water. State-owned utility Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (OPWP) forecasts that demand will grow at an average of 8% annually, to reach 278mn cubic metres (m3) by 2017. This leaves little room for manoeuvre as OPWP attempts to boost capacity at its major independent water and power projects (IWPP) and independent water-only projects. In July 2011, the Salalah IWPP is due to start operations and the bidding process for the Al Ghubrah independent water project is also due to get underway. The Omani authorities have also promised to speed up studies into the Duqm IWPP - which could lead to significant new desalination capacity. Invitations to bid may be solicited before the end of 2011, though the project may yet be denuded of its water component. Nonetheless, BMI is confident that the Omani authorities remain in control of the process and will be in a position to meet demand over the next seven years.

Key themes to highlight for Oman's water sector:

* In Q2 2011, OPWP, Oman's state-owned water and electricity company, set out its demand forecasts for the next seven years. Its forecasts show that overall demand for potable and industrial water increasing from around 163mn m3 in 2010 to 278mn m3 in 2017 - an average growth rate of around 8% per year.  * An assessment of the demand/supply balance in the car news Ghubrah Zone indicates new desalination capacity is needed to cover rising demand and to compensate for the upcoming retirement of some older desalination units at the Ghubrah Power and Desalination Plant. Sohar will also need new desalination capacity from 2015 onwards - with the requirement rising from 18,000 m3/d in 2015 to 64,000 m3/d by 2017. Duqm will see its requirement rise from 6,000 m3/d in 2013 to 15,000 m3/d by 2017. Only Sur has sufficient water to cover demand through to 2017, says OPWP.

Mitsubishi’s Line-Up at the Melbourne International Motor Show

Australian premiere: Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV Powered by the Mitsubishi Plug-in Hybrid System, the new-generation crossover, Concept PX-MiEV, showcases the possibilities offered by eco-friendly EVs returning fuel economy in excess of 50 km/litre.

Delivering both outstanding environmental and road performance, this concept satisfies the need for occupant safety combined with powerful performance. The Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV is designed primarily to drive in all-electric mode while using a petrol engine to generate electricity to assist the electric motor when required.

Differential motors and Mitsubishi's S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control), utilises E-AYC (Electric-powered Active Yaw Control) which transfers torque to the rear left and right wheels. i-MiEV Mitsubishi's all-electric city vehicle, the i-MiEV, will be on show in Melbourne, giving the Australian public the opportunity to experience the future of EVs.

The model year 2012 i-MiEV, revealed in June this year, features numerous specification upgrades and an affordable purchase price, giving environmentally aware Australian customers the opportunity to own a zero drive-time emission vehicle.

Recently released market study: Venezuela Power Report Q3 2011

PRLog (Press Release)– Jul 20, 2011– This newly published Venezuela Power Report from BMI forecasts that the country's power consumption will increase from an estimated 89.1TWh in 2010 to 114.3TWh by the end of the forecast period, assuming 2.5% average annual g dodge rowth. After power industry usage and system losses, we see a theoretical supply surplus rising from the estimated 27.6TWh level seen in 2010 to 36.4TWh by 2020, assuming 2.6% average annual growth in power generation during the period.

Venezuela's power generation in 2010 is put by BMI at 116.7TWh, having fallen 5.4% from the 2009 level. BMI is forecasting an average 2.9% annual increase, to 134.6TWh, between 2011 and 2015. Thermal generation, comprising coal, gas and oil, is expected to grow by 2.1% per annum during the period to 2015, but growth looks set to slow later in the decade.

We expect gas-fired power generation to climb 1.9% per annum between 2011 and 2015, with an average annual growth rate of 1.5% forecast to 2020. Gas-fired generation should therefore reach 25.6TWh by 2015 and 27.1TWh by 2020. The share of total power generation should therefore decrease from 20.0% to 19.0% by 2015, easing to 18.0% by 2020. Gas currently powers around half of Venezuela's thermal generation. Oil will remain a significant part of the Venezuelan power generation mix, in spite of the country's ambitions to maximise exports and cap domestic consumption. It currently accounts for around 13.8% of total generation, easing to 13.5% by 2015 thanks to greater gas and hydro expansion. We believe there will be no more than 18TWh of oil-fired power generation by the end of the forecast period.

Hydro-electricity provides the bulk of Venezuela's electricity supply. The Caroni River in Guayana state is the main focus of the country's hydro-power production. Generator Edelca operates the 8.9GW Guri (Raul Leoni) facility on the Caroni, the third biggest hydro-electric plant in the world, after China's Three Gorges Dam and Itaipu on the Paraguay/Brazil border. Edelca also operates the 2.9GW Macagua and the 2.2GW Caruachi facilities, both on the Caroni. Edelca is currently building a fourth plant on the Caroni, the 2.2GW Tocoma dam, with completion scheduled for 2012.

Venezuela is ranked last, behind even Mexico, in BMI's updated power sector Business Environment Ratings, in spite of its considerable generating capacity and low level of energy import dependency. The underdeveloped competitive landscape, regulatory issues and asset renationalisation conspire with country risk factors to deliver a particularly low score that may be insufficient even over the longer term to allow Venezuela to challenge Mexico.

Jim was at Woodstock in 1969 and after ha corsa ving explored various "new age" and Eastern philosophies, as well as a few Protestant Evangelical and Pentacostal beliefs, Jim has come full circle to embrace the historical Holy Orthodox and Catholic Christian Church of his youth. "I simply grew tired of running into so many dead ends. I am truly thankful to come home to the actual and historical Christian Church that the ferrari Lord Jesus founded. I hope people will find blessings in my music."

PRLog (Press Release)– Jul 14, 2011– (Houston): On April 25, 2012, the Houston Chapter of the Women's Energy Network (WEN) will host a biennial lunch in support of Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA) a corsa t the Omni Hotel in Houston.  

WEN hosts charity lunches biennially to support charities and non-profit organizations in the Houston area. Since the lunches began in the 1990s, participation has grown to more than 300 attendees and funds raised have exceeded $100,000.  Last year, WEN was able to raise over $88,000 to benefit Gracewood.  

AVDA was chosen because of the important work the organization undertakes to rescue women and children from battered relationships and empower them to build a safe life on their own.   Among the criteria WEN emphasizes in selecting a charity recipient is to find an organization that serves women and/or children - AVDA does both.  Additionally, WEN seeks to support organizations that are resourceful with the budget that they have and make the most sig audi nificant impact possible with its funds.  AVDA excels in this area as it handled cases for more than 1500 families in 2010 with only six attorneys.

PRLog (Press Release)– Jul 04, 2011– South Korean new vehicle sales for 2010 totaled 1,465,426 units (1,217,764 passenger cars plus 247,662 commercial vehicles), an increase of 5.1% y-o-y. Two interest rate rises in January and March 2011 (taking rates to 3.0%) have generated a dampener for vehicle sales in the first half of the year. Further interest rate hikes are on the cards (most likely two more 0.25% increases during the remainder of 2011). However, car sales growth should remain positive in 2011. Although real economic growth is forecast by our macroeconomic team to slow this year (from over 6% in real terms last year), consumer demand should remain reasonably resilient in the face of the tightening of credit, as disposable incomes continue to rise. New vehicle sales in the first three months of the year bear out our cautiously positive stance - sales on the domestic market rose 3.8% y-o-y, to 362,853 units, according to KAMA. March - the latest month for which data was available as we went to press - saw an 8.4% y-o-y rise to 134,079 units, thanks in part to the debuts of new models including Hyundai's Avante and Kia's Morning. KAMA is targeting domestic sales growth in the order of 3.4% for 2011. We continue to target 3.5% sales growth for 2011(unchanged from the forecast we made in our last quarterly update). Beyond this point, we would suggest th buick e domestic market then has scope to grow in the order of 5% per annum over the remainder of our forecast period to 2015. This would indicate total domestic vehicle sales of 1.84mn in 2015.

South Korea produced 4,271,741 vehicles in 2010, an increase of 21.6% y-o-y. This performance means that South Korea remains the world's fifth-largest automobile manufacturer and accounts for some 5.5% of total global auto production. Looking forward, KAMA believes that automobile production can grow in the order of 4.8% over the course of this year. Last quarter, we penciled in a slightly more optimistic forecast than KAMA, of 5% for 2011.
